The Direct Answer: Outdoor Unit, Condensing Unit, or Condenser

The broad, system-neutral name for the large air-conditioning equipment outside your house is the outdoor unit.

For a typical cooling-only central split air conditioner, the more precise term is condensing unit or outdoor condensing unit.
